How Do I Choose the Right Breast Implants?
Choosing the right breast implant type, size, and shape depends on several factors distinctive to every individual. At the Ohio State University Department of Plastic Surgery, our skilled and experienced plastic surgeons aim to comprehensively educate you on all options available in order to help you make the most informed decision for your unique needs and desired outcomes.
During your initial breast augmentation consultation, your surgeon will utilize our advanced VECTRA® 3D imaging system to provide three dimensional simulations of results that can potentially be achieved with various implant options. Once uploaded onto a monitor for viewing, the VECTRA® digital image can be modified and altered based on the different implant types, shapes, and sizes you are considering, giving you a general – and realistic – idea of your surgical outcome. In addition to computer imaging, your plastic surgeon will also take chest measurements and conduct a thorough examination to assess skin quality, breast shape and volume, nipple positioning, and various other elements to help ensure your implants of choice can be safely accommodated.
Ultimately, your surgeon will make recommendations based on which implants he or she believes may be most beneficial for your breast augmentation goals, but the final decision will be left up to you.
